Thermistor Probes

A temperature probe housing is designed to both protect the sensor from environmental conditions as well to optimize the sensor’s performance. To be properly designed, a temperature probe not only performs well and is rugged enough for its environment, but ultimately, it must also be cost-effective.

MP Series: Micro and Mini Probes

Micro and mini probes can fit inside small spaces and have phenomenal time response — all while having excellent environmental protection.

Typical applications:

  • Weather instruments

  • Medical devices

  • Laboratory equipment

 SP Series: Surface Probes

Surface probes are great for monitoring the temperature of many different surfaces. They can be installed temporarily or permanently using various mounting methods.

Typical applications:

  • Battery monitoring

  • Vessel surface temperature

  • Hot/cold block surface temperature

 CE Series: Closed End Probes

The closed end probe series is a general classification for temperature sensors mounted inside a housing for environmental and mechanical protection.

Typical Applications:

  • General temperature measurement

  • Handheld probes

 RT Series: Ring Terminal Probes

Ring terminal probes are quick and easy to mount with screws onto various parts of all types of equipment.

Typical Applications:

  • Equipment monitoring

  • Battery terminals

 TP Series: Threaded Probes

For measuring the internal temperature of a container, a threaded probe allows for the sensor to be protected from and have excellent thermal contact to the fluid inside the container.

Typical applications:

  • Bioreactor / controlled fermentation

  • Temperature controlled bath

  • Monitoring fluid temperature inside pipes

 HH Series: Hex Head Probes

Screw ports can be built into equipment for easy installation of hex head probes that are highly thermally coupled to a desired temperature measurement location.

Typical applications:

  • Heating/cooling blocks

  • Electrical motors

  • Battery cases

 AF Series: Air Flow Probes

For monitoring air temperature, specialty probe designs can be used which allow for a fast time response sensor to be protected while having good contact with air.

Typical applications:

  • Weather instruments

  • HVAC

  • Building monitoring

Typical environmental conditions that should be considered when designing a temperature probe are:

  • Electrical isolation

  • Humidity

  • Type of medium being measured

  • Temperature cycling

  • Vibration/shock

  • Exposure to harsh chemicals

  • Min/max temperature exposures

Performance objectives such as temperature measurement tolerances as well as desired response times are also important.
